Monthly Concert November 2025
Dear Music Rasikas,
SMC would like to invite you with family and friends to our Monthly Concert to be held on Saturday 29th November 2025 at the Dundas Community Centre (Main Hall), 21 Sturt Street, Telopea.
We continue the Guru-Shishya series this month and bring to you a thematic concert as well.
4.45pm to 5.45pm: Vocal concert by Smt. Sangeetha Richards Karthik, accompanied by Chi. Abhinav Harishankar on the Violin and Chi. Advaith Ilavajhala on the Mrudangam
6pm to 8pm: Thematic vocal concert by Smt. Prema Ananthakrishnan on the Arupadai Veedu of Lord Murugan, accompanied by Kum. Agalya Pavalan on the Violin and Sri. Lojen Wijeyamanoharan on the Mrudangam

Artiste Profiles:
Smt. Prema Anandakrishnan
Smt. Prema Anandakrishnan began her musical training at the age of 5 under the late Smt. Savitri Menon, and continued her vocal training under a string of musical luminaries like the late Smt. Venkatalakshmi, Smt. Ananthalakshmi Venkatraman and the late Sri Vechoor Harihara Subramania Iyer of the Sri Thyagaraja parambara. Apart from completing a Master's in Carnatic Music from Kerala University, Prema was an AIR artiste and has given several full length concerts in India and in Australia. She extended her repertoire and knowledge of Carnatic Music in Sydney under the guidance of Smt. Rajalakshmi Venkatachari. She has sung for various dance arangetrams and productions such as Krishnaleelamrutham, Dasavatharam and Namami Narayanam. She is the teacher of various students in Sydney.
Kum. Agalya Pavalan
Agalya Pavalan is a Year 12 student at Baulkham Hills High School. Her first and main musical discipline is the Carnatic style Violin, which she has been learning for over ten years under the tutelage of Sri Kranthi Kiran Mudigonda. Agalya also learns Carnatic Vocals from Smt. Lakshmi Kumaraguruparan. She trains Western Piano under the guidance of Mr Joseph Blackman. Outside of the musical field, Agalya has learnt Bharatanatyam for over 5 years with Smt Pathmaranjini Umashankar. She has a keen interest and pursues martial arts with a passion and has a Black belt in Taekwondo
Chi. Abhinav Harishankar
Abhinav Harishankar is a year 11 student of Girraween High School. He began his Carnatic vocal music lessons with Sydney based Mridangam and Vocal Guru Sri Raman Easwaran and currently is under the guidance of Sri Chitravina P Ganesh and Sri K S Vishnudev. Abhinav is also a Carnatic violin student and performer having learnt initially from Sydney based Vid. Sri Kranthikiran Mudigonda and now continuing his advanced violin lessons under Guru Sri Pappu Gyandev. Abhinav has given several vocal and violin performances in Sydney for Yuva Sangeetha Margam, Ragapriya Sydney, other

Abhinav has given several vocal and violin performances in Sydney for Yuva Sangeetha Margam, Ragapriya, worldwide Facebook and other online sabhas and also in Chennai in several sabhas.
Abhinav is a finalist for Gayathri Fine Arts Thithhikkum TamizhIsai competition 2022 and finalist for Guruguhaamrta Muthuswamy Dikshitar Kruthis competition for three years in a row.
Abhinav also learns Mridangam with Sydney based Vid Sri Raman Easwaran.
Chi. Advaith Ilavajhala
Advaith Ilavajhala is a Mridangam artiste dedicated to exploring the depth and beauty of rhythm within the Carnatic tradition. Beginning his training under Vidwan Shri. Subangan Nirmaleswaran, he built a strong foundation in technique and musical awareness, later refining his artistry and currently continuing his journey under the guidance of Vidwan Shri. V Sai Raghavan and Maestro Dr. Shri. Patri Satish Kumar. Their mentorship has shaped Advaith's versatility, creativity, and rhythmic depth.
His dedication has been recognised through accolades such as by the Birmingham Thyagaraja Festival and Encore (NESA), a prestigious award for excellence in musicianship. His musical journey also spans Carnatic vocal, guitar, and snare drumming, and he has performed with leading pipe bands. As he continues his journey, Advaith remains passionate about exploring the evolving landscape of Carnatic percussion through performance, collaboration, and lifelong learning.
